"H.J. Brunnier of San Francisco expressed desire for people on the Pacific Coast to come to a closer understanding of the genuine qualities of the Japanese people. In this connection he made a plea for a large attendance at the Pan-Pacific Conference which is to be held in October in Tokio, at which time New Zealanders, Hawaiians, Japanese and Chinese will combine as co-hosts to the western guests, with the Japanese taking the occasion to demonstrate the hospitality for which they are famous."
