Built in 1893 by Thomas D. Stimson, retired lumberman from Chicago, the Stimson was the first six-storu structure in Los Angeles. Demolition of the elaborate carved stone and brick structure at the southwest corner of 3rd and Spring Sts., will begin today (April 1, 1963)."
