Speaking of Huerne, Kervick wrote: "When he was thirty he came to California and settled in San Francisco where his ability was soon recognized. Work of magnitude came to him such as the work on the docks and the street railways. At the time of his death an obituary stated that he had also been connected with the early work on the Panama Canal. He was the architect for the French Hospital and the Church at the Mission."
