"Closed to the public during the summer by the order of the Cahuilla Tribal Council, Palm Canyon, 4 miles south of Palm Springs Calif., has been re-opened for the season (1954-55). At the toll gate where visitors are permitted to enter the canyon from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. an Indian gatekeeper collects a 50 cent admission charge from adults and 25 cent for minor children over 12. Those under 12 are admitted free. Receipts go into the tribal fund."
