Notes:
"Tahquitz Canyon lies in the reservation of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians outside of Palm Springs. It was closed to the public in 1969 because it was suffering so much environmental damage. Ironically, over the next thirty years it continued to be a dumping ground for thoughtless individuals, a target for graffiti, and home to a number of transients. As they reclaim the canyon the 340-member Cahuilla tribe is cleaning it up and reopening it to the public with limited access."
