Notes:
Planning for a new auditorium and opera house occurred in 1947. This note, written by Henry H. Saylor, stated: "To business and civic leaders attending a February luncheon in Los Angeles was revealed a well-kept secret--that twenty-three acre downtown site had been set aside for an auditorium and an opera house. Two streets of the gridiron plan will have to be tunneled under the site. The auditorium, with a seating capacity of 30,000, is expected to make Los Angeles a principal convention city."
