Photography by Grant Mudford; this was one of the most in-depth studies of Rudolph Schindler's early years in the United States, and his radically new house on King's Road in Los Angeles, CA; the book included many construction photos of the house; according to Smith, Clyde Chace had worked for Irving J. Gill just before collaborating with Schindler on the King's Road House; she wrote: "Gill's experiments with concrete were of particular interest to Schindler, especially his tilt-slab method of constructing walls by pouring concrete into molds and tilting the prefabricated sections into place after they cured. Through Chace's association with Gill, Schindler would later have access to Gill's technical expertise and even his equipment." [p. 18]
