Description: 17 albums (ca. 1,530 photoprints) ; 36 x 29 cm. Summary: The 17 albums contain photos of architecture and cityscapes in Spain, North Africa, France and Italy. The 9 Spanish albums document ecclesiastical and domestic architecture with particular attention devoted to architectural details. Several images depict scaffolding set against castle walls; others are of castles, ceramic tile from Seville, and decorative arts in Madrid. The cities included in v.1 are: Càdiz, Jerez de la Frontera, Utrera, Osuna, Malaga, Granada, Lorca, Murca and Cartacenga; v.2 documents Ronda, Cordoba, Almadovar del Rio, Carmona, Seville; v.3 has Valencia, Sagunto, Tarragona, Poblet, San Cugat del Vàlles; v.4: Barcelona, Lérida, Huesca, Zaragoza, Tudela, Pamplona; v.5: Burgos, Palencia; v.6: León, Astorga, Zamora, Avila; v.7: Valladolid, Medina del Campo, Salamanca, San Lorenzo del Escorial, Madrid; v.8: Sigüenza, Segovia, Guadalajara, Alcalà de Henares; v.9: Toledo, Cuenca. The North African albums document Islamic architecture, views of ancient ruins, and Islamic tile. The cities covered by v.1 are Tangiers, Larache, Casablanca, Rabat and Salli. Vol.2 has Fez and Tetuau; v.3: Tlemcen, Algiers; v.4: Constantine, Biskra, Timgad, Tunis; v.5: Dougga, Kairouan. The French albums primarily document domestic and ecclesiastical architecture. The cities in v.1 are Amiens, Rouen, Caudebec, Louviers, Les Andelys, Caen, Bayeux, Coutances and Pontorson. Vol.2: Paris, Chartres, Senlis, Beauvais, Bourges, Poitiers, Bordeaux, Albi, Toulouse, Avignon and Arles. The Italian album documents mostly domestic and ecclesiastical architecture with photos from Rome, Orvieto, Florence, Bologna, Ravenna, Venice, Torcello, Padua and Verona.
