On the Sacramento River, opposite the foot of K Street, 1864-1866. Site of cannery scow where Wiliam and George Hume and Andrew Hapgood successfully perfected the canning technique that led to the development of the multi-million Pacific Coast salomon industry, and of the cabin in which they lived. Cannery operated from 1864 to 1866 when the brothers moved their equipment to Washington's Columbia River in hopes of finding a better salmon field. Private: National Historic Landmark
