The Los Angeles Board of Public Works passed a resolution on 03/26/1928 praising the work done by A.C. Martin, John C. Austin and John Parkinson for their collaborative work on the recently completed City Hall: "The architect are commended by this board for their eminently satisfactory and beautiful design of the monumental building so that it was completed expeditiously and economically." The three architects made 6% of the construction costs for their fees, or $315,027.
