George Vroom Banning was born on 1917 in Hackensack, NJ. His parent were William P. and Helen Banning. His father worked, in 1920, as the Vice President of a NJ sugar company. In that year, the Bannings lived at 261 Summit Avenue in New Barbadoes section northwest of Hackensack. It was a wealthy neighborhood in 1920, with neighbors being professionals and corporate executives. The household included his parents, his sister Helen, and two African-American household workers, Edna Jeter (born c. 1893 in VA) and Nora Jeter, (born c. 1899 in VA). His World War II draft registration car stated that George V. Banning was Caucasian with a light complexion, brown eyes and brown hair. He stood 6-feet tall and weighed 175 pounds.
