Education: B.A., Landscape architecture, University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, IL, 1943; served in U.S. Navy during WW II, c. 1943-1945; studied set design at Yale University after 1945; May designed sets for theater and dance programs at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1966-1991, when he retired; May also worked with Frank Lloyd Wright on a project; May had contracted Alzheimer's Disease and passed away at a nursing home in Washington, D.C.
