The architect died of hypostatic pneumonia at Marin County Hospital and Farm in San Rafael, CA, in Marin County, and was buried at Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma, CA. A voter roll of 1898 in San Francisco listed Holland's height, at age 25, at 5-feet, 10-inches tall. This document indicated that he was Caucasian, with a fair complexion, blue eyes and light brown hair.
