He had been naturalized in the Superior Court of California at Stockton c. 1878.

His mother Elizabeth Roberts was also of English descent.

He wed Grace Yale Weeks (born 01/29/1889 in Medford, OR-d. 11/28/1973 in Contra Costa County, CA) in Berkeley, CA, on 01/17/1920.

Her parents were Arthur John Weeks (born 08/1853 in Ontario, Canada-d. 02/17/1928 in Jackson County, OR) and Anna Belle Stewart (born 09/1856 in Hannibal, MO-d. 01/03/1939 in Jackson County, OR)

Children

He and Grace had three childen: Margaret Lelean Jory Tracy (born 1923 in Berkeley, CA-d. 12/05/2016 in Livermore, CA), Farnham Stewart Jory (born 12/06/1926 in Berkeley, CA-d. 02/23/2004 in Danville, CA) and Howard Roberts Jory (born 12/08/1931 in Berkeley, CA). All of the Jory children excelled academically. Farnham was a Phi Beta Kappa physics graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (1948), who would earn a graduate degree in mathematics at ETH-Zurich in 1951 and doctorate in theoretical physics from the University of Chicago in 1955. In 1950, the US Census listed Margaret as working as an interior designer. Biographical Notes

His World War I draft registration card indicated that Jory was Caucasian with blue eyes and brown hair. He was of medium height and had a "stout" build. His US passport paperwork of 1921 listed Jory as being 5-feet, 10-inches tall and having blue-grey eyes.

In 1921, Jory and his wife took an eight-month study tour of Europe that would include the British Isles, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Switzerland. He and his wife were to leave New York, NY aboard the Cunard cargo-passenger liner, S.S. Albania, on 03/24/1921. His witness to verify his identity was the architect Irving Morrow. (1884-1952), who indicated that he had known Jory for ten years.
