Her obituary in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer read: "Mrs. Eugenia Lane Fiedler, 61, of 3046 NW Esplanade Drive, died Sunday at Shelby, Mont., while on a train en route to Indiana. Born in Elwood, Ind., she came to Seattle in 1947. She had been employed as an architect with Roland Perry, Seattle architect. She was a member of the American Institute of Architects, and the Audubon Society. Her husband, A.B. Fiedler, died in 1966. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Florence Romero, Mexico City; and a son, Jack Fiedler, Fremont, Calif. Eugenia Lane was born in Elwood, IN, in about 1906. Elwood was a town which straddled Madison and Tipton Counties in central Indiana.

By 1910, Eugenia resided with her family in Madison Township, Tipton County, IN, and continued to live here a decade later. It is likely that Eugenia Lane moved to Chicago, IL, by the mid-to-late 1920s. She would marry Alban B. Fiedler by 07/1930, and live in that city for approximately the next 17 years. Eugenia and Alban lived with his two children in a $50-per-month, rented house at 1435 East 66th Place, according to the 1940 US Census and remained here in 1942, when Alban filled out his World War II draft registration card. He worked for the Chicago Board of Education at the beginning of World War II. Eugenia Lane migrated to Seattle, WA, in about 1947, as noted in her obituary. She remained at 3046 NW Esplanade Drive in 1956-1957. (See Seattle, Washington, City Directory, 1956, p. 857.)

On Sunday, 09/24/1967, he passed away from a heart attach while on an eastbound train in Toole, MT, at the age of 61. According to her obituary, she was travelling back to Indiana at the time. (See "Obituaries: Mrs. Eugenia Lane Fiedler," Seattle Post-Intelligencer, 09/27/1967, p. 30.)

Parents

Her parents were Mordecai Lane (born 12/17/1868 in OH-d. 07/26/1920 in Madison, IN) and Jennie M. Waters (born c. 1871 in IN-d. 1926 in Washington, DC). Jennie Waters Lane had connections to Eugenia's hometown of Elwood, IN. Mordecai's death certificate indicated that he died from complications due to a stroke occurring on 07/23/1920 and that Jennie lived on Rural Route #4 in Elwood, IN, at the time of his death on 07/26/1920. Mordecai worked with horses, both as a trainer (in 1910) and a jockey (in 1920), while Jennie raised three children. Byron Lane died in WA State, near Spokane at the age of 42.
