His mother was Marie Louise Rubin (born 12/19/1910 in OH-d. 12/18/1989 in Mentor, OH). She was one of four children of John Peter Rubin (born 11/15/1877 in Switzerland-d. ) and Anna A. Pampel (born c. 10/1884 in OH-d. 05/29/1979 in Westlake, OH), who wed on 06/28/1905 in Cleveland, OH. In 1930, Marie's family resided at 4061 West 157th Street in Cleveland, OH. The residence had an estimated value of $10,000 according to the census, about double the local average. Her father John was born in Switzerland and worked as an "erector" for a company manufacturing scales, likely Fairbanks, Morse and Company. Elmer worked for the Central National Bank in Cleveland, OH.
