President, Max Kuney Construction Company, Seattle, WA, c. 1957- . This firm worked on contract for the State of Washington to clear a landslide on the Snoqualmie Pass Highway in 10/1957. An article describing the work said: "Workers for the Max Kuney Construction Co., contractor for the section of the highway closed by the slide, are putting in 10-hour shifts during clearing operations. The company is using two shifts a day. While the Snoqualmie Pass Highway is closed, traffic from Seattle is being routed over Stevens Pass. Max Kuney, Jr., resided in Spokane, WA, between 1943 and 1948, at least. (See Seattle, Washington, City Directory, 1943, p. 653, and Seattle, Washington, City Directory, 1948, p. 758.)

The Seattle, Washington, City Directory, 1951, (p. 719) indicated that Kuney lived at the same address as his business office, at 235 9th Avenue North.

He wed Constance Kerr on 01/17/1940 in Spokane County, WA. They divorced before 1944.

He married Olive R. Wills in King County on 06/23/1944. (See King County Marriage Records, 1855-2018 - Max J Kuney - Olive R Wills, Washington State Archives, Digital Archives, http://digitalarchives.wa.gov, accessed 08/06/2021. He was divorced from her in 1952. A front-page article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer stated: "Max J. Kuney, one of the builders of the new Public Safety Bldg., was sued for $100,000 Tuesday for alienation of affections. Plaintiff in the complaint filed in Superior Court was W. Stuart Zimmerman, Boeing enginer and former Army colonel, of 1315 9th Avenue. It accuses Kuney of alienating the affections of Rebecca Margaret Zimmerman, whom Zimmerman married in 1930." (See "Max Kuney Sued for Heart Balm," Seattle Post-Intelligencer, 02/27/1952, p. 1.) The newspaper indicated that Olive Kuney was vacationing alone with her son, John, in Hawaii, in 02/1951. He married Helen Mar Edwards in Las Vegas, NV, on 12/29/1958. A news item about the marriage said: "Mrs. Kuney is a graduate of Annie Wright Seminary in Tacoma, and attended Bradford Junior College in Massachusetts and Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Tex., where she affiliated with Chi Omega sorority."(See "Max Kuney Is Married," Seattle Post-Intelligencer, 02/01/1959, p. Children

With Constance Kerr, he had at least one son, Max J. Kuney III.

WIth Olive Wills, he had a son, John Kuney.

Biographical Notes

Following his marriage to Helen Mar Edwards, the couple sailed from New York, NY, to South America. They toured Peru, Chile and Argentine via airplane and cruise ships between 02/20/1959 and 04/07/1959. (See "Kuneys Tour South America" Seattle Post-Intelligencer, 03/12/1959, p. WS 8.)
