In 1963, Netsch wed Patricia Dawn Clark (born 09/16/1926-d. 03/05/2013), a 1948 and 1952 graduate of Northwestern University, who later would become a law professor there in 1965. Clark had a long career in Illinois state politics.

She and Walter Netsch became active art collectors.
