The son of Hazel Young and Joseph Lee Donnette, James Donnette was born in Warren, OH, on 01/29/1937.

After 1945, the Joseph and Hazel moved to Torrance, CA, a hub of aeronautical research, development and manufacturing (and later missile production) in Southern CA.
