Born in Allentown, PA, Theodore W. Litzenberger lived, at the age of three, with his parents in a rented house in Lower Macungie Township, PA, a suburb southwest of Allentown, PA. He shared the house with his parents and sister. His uncle, Albert Litzenberger, (born c. 1916 in PA), and his wife, Helen, (born c. 1919 in PA), lived next door in another rented house. The US Census of 1940 indicated that his parents lived in Allentown in 1935. Parents

His father was Wilson J. Litzenberger, (born 11/28/1913 in East Texas, PA-d. 06/23/1981 in PA), who, in 1940, worked as a shop foreman in an auto plant in Lower Macungie, probably that of Mack Trucks, founded in 1900. He wed Theo's mother, Anna Alverta Mantona Geist, (born 11/02/1909 in Longswamp, PA-d. 01/20/1997 in Saint Paul, MN), on 07/15/1933 in Shamrock, PA.
