Born in OH, Fotheringham resided for most of his adult life in Spokane, WA. In 1920, he resided in an apartment building at the Crest Hotel, 1224 West Riverside Avenue, with his wife, Mary and son, Benjamin. A relative, Dell Fotheringham, lived in the same building with his wife, Jessie. The Spokane City Directory of 1919 indicated that Fotheringham either owned or managed the Crest Hotel in that year. (See Spokane City Directory of 1919, p. 284.)

He was buried at the Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane, WA.


His father was David Fotheringham, a Scotsman, and his mother was Isabella Boyd, who had been born in Ireland.


He married Mary Nancy Fotheringham.
