Earlier in his career he worked in the counties of Glenn and Shasta in California. According to his obituary in the magazine, Architecture/West, Deichmann designed the Shasta County Hospital, Williows Hospital, Coluca County Hospital and a number of public schools. This article also stated: "He was also architect for the National Dollar Stores." (See "Deaths," Architecture/West, vol. 71, no. 1, 01/1965, p. 9.)
