Born in San Francisco to recent German immigrants, Arthur Ehrenpfort resided in a house at 47 Russ Street as per the 1880 US Census. Arthur's father manufacturef candy. Parents
His mother was Emma Dellwig Ehrenpfort, (born 04/1842 in Goslar, Lower Saxony, Germany-d 02/22/1937 in San Francisco, CA), who had had seven children as recorded in the 1900 US Census and managed the busy household. According to the 1910 and 1920 US Censuses, Emma came to the US from Germany in 1864.
His father, Frederick “Fritz” Ehrenpfort, (born 04/23/1837 in Osterode am Harz, Lower Saxony, Germany-d. 08/13/1894 in San Francisco, CA), worked in a candy manufacturing partnership, Bernheim and Ehrenpfort, in San Francisco. He arrived in the US from Germany in 1864 and had migrated to San Francisco, by about 1866. He wed Emma on 11/17/1867 in San Francisco.
Their children included: George Friedrich Ehrenpfort, (born 03/25/1867 in San Francisco, CA-d. 10/31/1913 in San Francisco, CA), Augusta A. Ehrenpfort Kaufman, (born 08/18/1868 in San Francisco, CA-d. 02.28/1957 in Alameda, CA), Hugo Rothschild Ehrenpfort (born 1871 in San Francisco, CA-d. 01/01/1917 in Alameda County, CA), William C. Spouse
He wed Johanna Caroline Wolters Ehrenpfort (born 01/30/1869 in San Francisco, CA-d. 09/17/1965 in Mountain View, CA), in about 1920. He first married at 42, she at 24 to his brother, George F. Ehrenpfort. George died in 1913, and Arthur wed his widow about seven years later.
Johanna had two children, presumably with George Frederick, George A. Ehrenpfort and Elmer W. Ehrenpfort.
Biographical Notes
His World War I draft registration card listed Ehrenpfort as being Caucasian,tall, with a stout build, blue eyes and gray hair. Under physically disqualifying conditions for war duty, Ehrenpfort wrote: “Dislocation of organs in abdomen. Deaf left ear 15 yrs.”
