His father was George F. Frye (1833-1911), who owned the Frye Hotel. His mother was Louisa Denny Frye, daughter of Arthur Armstrong Denny (1822-1899), a Seattle pioneer.

He married Florence Loretta Ripley of Savannah, IL.

He and Florence had a daughter, Mrs. R. Albert Osborne, who had children.

Frye was credited with designing the Ernst Building at 6th Avenue and Pike Street.
