Relocation
Born in Cleveland, OH, Clark became orphaned at an early age; his primary education occurred in Cleveland, but he moved to Huntsburg, OH, east of Cleveland, where he attended high school. He studied mathematics and mechanics at the New Lyme Institute, New Lyme, OH. While in school here, he also apprenticed with an architect named White in Ashtabula, OH. Due to health problems, he worked in the open air as a carpenter, and became a superintendent in an Ashtabula construction firm.
Clark migrated to Los Angeles, CA, in 1907, and relocated to Bakersfield, CA, in 1908. He established a successful practice here, producing designs for houses as well as hotels and apartment buildings.
