According to his son, Jonathan, he studied architecture in Chicago, IL, during the 1930s. Additionally, he took courses in construction at Fort Belvoir, VA, and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, during the war.

Personal

Richard Glidden married his wife, Joan, in 1942.

He had at least two sons, of whom Jonathan Glidden was one.

Richard Glidden erected houses on the San Francisco Peninsula for approximately 40 years. Much of his work was clustered in the suburbs around Stanford University, most notably the towns of Los Altos, CA, and Los Altos Hills, CA.
