On 08/07/1967, the District Court of Appeal of California, Second Appellate District, Division 2, ruled in on a case S. Lee Sharfman brought against the State of California; at about 7:00 P.M. on 01/19/1965, Lee Sharfman accidentally drove into a highway road roller allegedly left negligently in a northbound lane with no markers or lights to indicate its presence. This mishap occurred along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, causing significant injury to him and damage to his car. Sharfman sued to recover damages for himself and his landscape architecture partnership.
