Sarah Ann "Sadie" Schontz (born 09/24/1879-d. 11/25/1964 in Los Angeles County, CA), his mother, was the daughter of Isaac Stauffer Shontz (born 03/23/1838 in PA-d. 03/20/1908 in Burlington, IA) and Sarah Ann Wills (born 03/26/1848 in England-d. 09/26/1922 in Yakima, WA). Sadie married Harold Paddock on 11/08/1916.

William had a sister Elizabeth Paddock (born 08/10/1917), a twin sibling who died as a baby (born 07/31/1919-d. 08/01/1919) and a brother Albert Paddock (born 04/29/1922).
