Personal

Born in Oakland, CA, Hamlin attended school in San Francisco, CA, and New York, NY in the 1920s. She lived in San Diego, CA, by the late 1920s due to illness. She worked in San Francisco during the 1930s, where she created WPA murals for Coit Tower and Mission High School #2. After the death of her husband, Hamlin came back from AZ to live in San Francisco, CA, where she remained for the rest of her life.

Her father was Charles Hamlin (b. San Jose, CA, 12/17/1874-d. Santa Cruz, CA, 08/12/1946 ), a musician and composer, who also painted watercolors as an avocation.

Hamlin married the California artist Maynard Dixon (1875–1946) in 1937. They lived in Tucson, AZ, from 1937 until Dixon's death in 1946.
