Personal

Relocation

WIlbur D. Peugh was born in the Lake County town of Kelseyville, CA, located due north of Santa Rosa, CA, very close to Clear Lake. It is interesting that his mother's family was named Kelsey, and one might suppose that her family may have had a role in the town's foundation. He spent his teenage years in the Stanislaus County city of Modesto, CA, before moving to the Bay Area to attend undergraduate school at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB). When he first began his studies at the UCB, America had entered World War I, and Peugh matriculated in the School of Military Aeronautics there. This training prepared him for service in the US Army Air Corps. After the war, he switched into the UCB School of Architecture, graduating from this program in 1923. He immediately went to work as a draftsman for firms in the Bay Area. He spent his architectural career working in and around San Francisco between 1921 and 1953.

He died in San Francisco at age 56.

Parents

His mother's maiden name was Kelsey.
