B.A., in Architecture, University of Oregon (U of O), Eugene, OR, 1920-1921. Jenkins was one of four graduates earning a B.A. in Architecture at the University of Oregon in 1921. The others included Peter Lind Jensen, Germany Klemm, and Lorna M. Meissner. Three others received B.S. degrees in Architecture at the same time: Marion Elizabeth Ady, William Huber Rambo, and Beatrice I. Wetherbee. Cleo Jenkins was born in Paris, IL, the county seat of Edgar County, in the east central part of the state on the Indiana line. It was located nearby to Terre Haute, IN. Cleo spent his formative years here. In 1900, the family lived at 717 North Central Avenue in Paris; they had a boarder in the house, a retired and widowed farmer named Joseph A. Parents

His mother was Martha Jane Walters (born c. 1860 in IL). She married Arnold C. Jenkins (born c. 06/1867 in IL-d. 06/11/1925 in Linn County, OR), a carpenter, in 1892 in Edgar County, IL. Martha and Arnold had four children, two of whom survived in 1900. His surviving brother, Oran A. Jenkins, was born about 11/1896 in the same town.

The 1910 US Census indicated that they continued to reside in Paris, IL, at 311 Kimball Street, and he built houses for a living. Both Cleo and Oran no longer lived at home as per this census. Spouse

Jenkins married in 1925 to Junia H. Markell (born c. 05/17/1897 in TX-d. 12/26/1968 in Multnomah County, OR), when he was 32 and, she, 27. Her father, Harry L. Markell (born c. 02/1866 in MI) worked as a minister in Rico, CO, 1900. Her mother was Lilly A. Markell (born c. 04/14/1867 in PA). When surveyed in 1955, he reported having had two children. Junia and Cleo had Cecil C. Jenkins (born c. 1926 in OR) and Paul L. Jenkins (born c. 11/1927 in OR).

In 1950, Paul would live in Olympia, WA, where he married Mary B. Hill in that year.

Biographical Notes

In 06/1917, his World War I draft registration card indicated that Jenkins was of medium height and slender build, with blue eyes and blond hair.
