A native of Union, OR, Kibbe left the state to attend college at the University of Minnesota, but returned to Portland, OR, c. 1910, to assist in the construction of the city's underground electrical system.

He wed Louise Kibbe.

He and Louise had two daughters, Mrs. Robert V. Andrews, who resided in San Antonio, TX, at the time of her father's death in 1973, and Mrs. Frank E. Nash, who lived in Portland, OR, at the same time.
