His father was Valerian Chaix, (born c. 1878 in France), who, according the US Census of 1920, came to the US in 1902 and was naturalized in 1911; his mother, Marie (born c. 1883 in France), also came to the 1902 and was naturalized in 1911. Valerian was a tailor; Marie kept house.
When surveyed in 1940, Chaix indicated that he was married to Emma Theresa Chaix (born 01/28/1913 in OH). She died on 02/14/2012, in Somis, CA. She was buried in the San Fernando Mission Cemetery, Mission Hills, Los Angeles, CA.
