Born in Milwaukee, WI, Schuchardt attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, travelled in Europe in 1895-1896; he resettled in Milwaukee during the 1910s-1920s, becoming one of the city's more prominent architects. He relocated for some time in Ithaca, NY to teach from 1926-1928 and migrated to California in 1929; in 1957, he resided in Arcadia, CA. He died at age 83.
