In 1930, Theo and his family lived in Etiat, Chelan County, WA. The family owned its own home there, worth approximately $2,000. Caldwell retired to the Caldwell-Davis Farm, near Goldendale, WA, raising Columbia sheep. Caldwell and his wife, Gwen, established the farm c. 1974, and operated it for some time while they lived in Seattle, WA. He ran his construction business, she was part owner of The Grand Central Bakery, a bakery/cafe in the then-newly renovated Pioneer Square. They had retired full-time to the farm by 1983. Theo died at Goldendale in 1986.

His father was Daniel L. Caldwell (born c. 1878 in OH), a house carpenter in 1930; his mother was Alice Caldwell (born c. 1885 in IN). who kept home. Daniel's parents were both from OH, while Alice's were both from IN.

Theo Caldwell married Dixie D. Aldridge on 03/20/1948 in Seattle, WA. He later wed Gwenyth P. Davis (born c. 1936 in MA) on 12/31/1974 in Seattle, WA.

According to the US Census of 1930, the Caldwell's had four children: Marjorie (born c. 1914 in WA), Wilson (born c. 1915 in WA), Theo, and Betty J. (born c. 1924 in WA).
