McNeil passed away form heart disease at the age of 86. He was interred at River View Cemetery in Portland.

His mother Rose Strejc (born 1882-d. 05/04/1914 in Portland, OR) had been born in Bohemia, and died when Harold was only four years old. Her parents were Mataj Strejc and Francis Krupicka.

His father Charles E. McNeil(born 05/23/1879 in Walla Walla, WA-d. 06/06/1965 in Portland, OR) sold automobiles for a living.

Harold had a sister, Mrs. Clarence P. Zimmerman.
