Kerr was born in Scotland, and immigrated to Canada c. 1908, living first in Montreal and then moving to Winnipeg. He resided in Winnipeg from at least 1909 until 1916. He relocated to CA in the 1920s, where he worked in the Los Angeles suburb of Alhambra, and then returned to Canada working in Vancouver, BC, from 1927 until 1941. He passed away at age 53. He was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Burnaby. BC.
