Relocation

Richard Elstner lived in Skokie, IL, in the early 1950s, while he worked at the Portland Cement Association's Laboratories. He joined Wiss and Janney Associates in 1959, and shortly thereafter, the firm relocated from its original location in Glenview, IL, to Des Plaines, IL, where it stayed for two years. In 1962, the new firm of Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates erected its own headquarters in Northbrook, IL. Elstner remained living in IL, traveling widely to consult on job sites, until 1979, when he opened WJE's second branch office in Honolulu, HI.
