While at the University of Michigan, Hille published a book on the San Francisco architect, William W. Wurster (1895-1973). He also authored Modern schools : a Century of Design for Education (Hoboken, NJ: John Wiley and Sons, 2011) and a CD-ROM, Form Function in Architecture, (Ann Arbor : University of Michigan Press, 1996-1998). He is currently preparing a study on small public libraries.
