Personal

Relocation

Charles T. Pearson was born in Chicago, IL, where he lived until about age 5. His family moved to Ogema, WI, a very small town in the north central part of the state in Price County by 1910. At the time the Pearsons lived here, Ogema had a very large number of Swedish immigrants, many who had left Sweden in the 1880s and 1890s. Some worked in the lumber industry. The Swedish language must have been used commonly in the town's businesses at the time, given this high concentration of recent immigrants. (See Ancestry.com, Source Citation: Year: 1910; Census Place: Ogema, Price, Wisconsin; Roll: T624_1730; Page: 4B; Enumeration District: 0134; FHL microfilm: 1375743, accessed 04/22/2020.) The area around Ogema contained Timms Hill, the highest point in the State of WI at 1,951 feet above sea level.

The Pearsons then relocated during the World War I-era to Tacoma, WA, where Charles's father, Charles M. Pearson, was a physician. At age 14 in 1920, Charles T. Pearson lived with his family at 1724 South Prospect Street in Tacoma, WA. At the time, the Pearson Family included Charles’s two parents and two siblings. By 1930, the family had moved to residence valued at $5,000 at 3735 North 30th Street in Tacoma, where they would remain a decade later. (See Ancestry.com, Source Citation: Year: 1930; Census Place: Tacoma, Pierce, Washington; Page: 10A; Enumeration District: 0192; FHL microfilm: 2342246, accessed 04/22/2020.)

The year 1940 was a momentous one for Pearson. In 04/1940, he continued to live with his family on 30th Street, but he married by 08/1940. (See Ancestry.com, Source Source Citation: Year: 1940; Census Place: Tacoma, Pierce, Washington; Roll: m-t0627-04391; Page: 4A; Enumeration District: 42-91, accessed 04/22/2020.) After his marriage, by 10/1940, he and his bride, Jeanne, had moved out into their own residence at 518 North Yakima Avenue in Tacoma, WA. (See Ancestry.com, Source Citation: The National Archives in St. Louis, Missouri; St. Louis, Missouri; WWII Draft Registration Cards for Washington, 10/16/1940-03/31/1947; Record Group: Records of the Selective Service System, 147; Box: 138, accessed 04/22/2020.)

He was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Tacoma, WA.
