Williams joined the American Institute of Architects in 1958. He belonged to the Southern California Chapter in 1962.

Williams, along with Robert A. Kennard, Arthur H. Silvers, and Carey K. Jenkins composed a second generation of African-American architects working in Los Angeles, CA, primarily after World War II. They followed in the footsteps of the earlier pioneer designer, Paul R. Williams.
