Blaine McCool, Architect, Seattle, WA, 1954-1957. In 03/1957, the firm was renamed "Blaine McCool and Associates," when Charles E. Morgan was elevated to the title of Associate. Partner, McCool- [Charles E.] Morgan and Associates, Architects, Seattle, WA, 04/1958-1959. A notice in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer in 1958 announced the creation of the McCool-Morgan and Associates firm: "A change in the architectural firm of Blaine McCool and Associates has been announced by McCool. Charles E. Morgan, who has been an associate architect, has become a partner, and the firm name will be changed to McCool, Morgan and Associates. The Seattle City Directory, 1960, (p. 1084) indicated that the firm's name remained "Blaine McCool and Associates." The firm's office at that time was at 401 Elliott Avenue West.

Relocation

Born in Emmett, ID, in the west-central part of the state on the southern banks of the Payette River. He spent his formative years here, before his family relocated to WA State. In 1930, the family resided in Tonasket, WA, where Blaine's father worked as a US Border Patrolman. They lived on 3rd Street in a rented house for which the family paid $14 per month. At some point during the 1930s, the McCools moved to Seattle, where Blaine graduated from Roosevelt High School, in the northeast part of the city. They lived at 810 East 80th Street in Seattle, while Blaine attended Roosevelt High School as a junior in 1940. They owned their house that had an estimated value of $3,500. In 1940, Fay McCool's mother, Addie Higby (born c. 1860 in AR) lived with them. Bart McCool worked as a postal employee according to the 1940 US Census. During World War II, he served as a First Lieutenant flying US Army Air Forces planes for three-and-a-half years. While serving in the US Army in 1943, McCool had a permanent residence at 810 East 80th Street in Seattle. (See Seattle, Washington, City Directory, 1943, p. 758.)

While attending the University of Washington in 1948, he and his wife, Dorothy, lived at 4508 Corliss Avenue, Seattle, WA. (See Seattle, Washington, City Directory, 1948, p. 883.)

His parents, Bartlett McCool (born 08/24/1888 in Buffalo County, NE-d. 02/1973 in Seattle, WA) and Leona Fay Higby (born c. 1891 in OR-d. 11/14/1981 in Seattle, WA) married on 07/17/1918 in Ada, ID. In 1918, according to his World War I draft registration card, Bartlett worked as a US Customs Clerk in Great Falls, MT. He seems to have held government positions throughout his life.

They had two children, Blaine and his older sister, Mary (born c. 1921 in UT).
