In 1942, Daly and his wife lived at 112 South 52nd Street in Omaha, NE. (See Ancestry.com, Source Citation The National Archives at St. Louis; St. Louis, Missouri; World War II Draft Cards (Fourth Registration) for the State of Nebraska; Record Group Title: Records of the Selective Service System, 1926-1975; Record Group Number: 147; Box or Roll Number: 1195, accessed 03/23/2019.) He and Madeline continued to live at this address in 1948. (See Omaha, Nebraska, City Directory, 1948, p. 229.)

Leo A. Daly, Sr., died of a heart attack at his summer house in Omaha.

Parents

Daly's parents married c. 1875. His father was William T. Daly (born 09/1854 in NJ), who worked, according to the 1900 US Census, as a dealer in feed and groceries. Matilda "Mattie" Daly (born 04/1856 in IA), his mother, worked in the home, taking care of six children in the household in 1900. By that point, she had had nine offspring, two of whom had died. His older brothers William (born 07/1878 probably in Wilton, IA) and John (born 02/1882 in IA) worked as plumbers. Other siblings included: Mary (or Maryann, born 10/1875 probably in Wilton, IA), Ida (born 04/1883 in IA), and Grace (born 03/1888 in NB). The 1910 US Census provided different information; the family lived at 1133 North 18th Street in Omaha, and William Daly was employed as an "architect superintendent." His wife was referred to as Agnes M. Daly, and their date of marriage was approximately 1878, which was probably wrong. John continued to work as a plumber, and Ida became a stenographer at a railroad office. This census also indicated that the William and his wife had had only 6 children, all of whom were alive. The 1880 US Census stated that William worked as a carpenter. From this somewhat murky data, one can see that Leo probably was raised in a home where architecture or building design was discussed and deemed important.

Spouse

He wed Madeline Catherine Peterson (born 07/31/1894-d. 05/13/1989).

Children

He and Madeline had five daughters and three sons. One son was the architect, Leo A. Daly, Jr., (1917-1981) who continued his father's practice and greatly expanded it. In 1962, Leo A. Daly Company had offices in Omaha, NB, Saint Louis, MO, Seattle, WA, and San Francisco, CA.

A grandson, Leo A. Daly III has led the company since 1981.
