Professional History

Résumé

Draftsman, Osterman and Siebert, Architects, Seattle, WA.

Draftsman, Arthur Loveless, Architect, Seattle, WA, 1927-1930.

Designer, McClelland and Jones, Architects, Seattle, WA, 1930-1942.

Partner, McClelland and Osterman, Architects, Seattle, WA, 1947- . McClelland and Osterman created a specialty designing banks and savings and loan offices. Before World War II, many major Seattle banks had begun to operate branch banking locations outside of Downtown Seattle. This trend intensified after the war, as suburban residential growth created the need for nearby suburban banks. Additionally, new banks formed after World War II, and the number of savings and loan associations and credit unions also grew substantially. As noted in an article in the Longview Daily News of 09/10/1970, Osterman and McClelland had designed over 150 banks by that date. (See Osterman to design credit union,” Longview Daily News, 09/10/1970, p. 17.)
