Eldredge was not listed in the Los Angeles directory of 1918, but was included in the 1920 edition. In the "Personals" page of the American Architect in 1920, it was noted: "Geo. W. Eldridge [sic] has reopened an office for the practice of architecture in suite 621-626 Exchange Building, Third and Hill Streets, Los Angeles. Mr. Eldridge desires samples and catalogs of building materials." (See "Personals," American Architect, vol. CXVII, no. 2309, 03/24/1920, p. 382.) The Exchange Building was located at 321 West 3rd Street. It is likely that Eldredge served in the military during World War I, forcing his to take a hiatus from his architectural practice.

Relocation

Born in New Jersey in 1871, Eldredge lived in the East for the first 30 years of his life. In 1880, he lived with his grandmother, Lorinda G. Withington (born c. 1802 in MA), in Easton, MA. He lived here with his mother and sister, but no father. He first appeared in the Denver city directory in 1900. In 1900 and 1901, he boarded with the White Family at 2435 Welton Street in Denver, CO, where he worked as an architectural draftsman. He lived at 731 Canosa Court, Denver, in 1902 and 1903. (See Ballenger and Richards, Denver City Directory, 1902, p. 377 and Ballenger and Richards, Denver City Directory, 1903, p. 395.) Eldredge lived with his business partner Franklin P. White at 731 Canosa Court in 1905. (See Ballenger and Richards, Denver City Directory, 1905, p. 1253.)

He moved to Salt Lake City, UT, by 1908, where he and his wife lived in the Wilfley Apartments, Apartment #18. (See R.L. Polk and Company's Salt Lake City City Directory, 1908, p. 377.) By 1910, they found a house at 226 " East 3rd So," unit number 3 in Salt Lake City. The R.L. Polk and Company's Salt Lake City City Directories, 1911 and 1912, indicated that he lived at 276 3rd Avenue (p. 357 and p. 298). Eldredge did not appear in the Salt Lake City directory of 1913.

Eldredge moved to Los Angeles by about 1915. In that year, he resided at 548 North Serrano Avenue in the city's Oakwood section, and, by the next year, he had relocated to Los Angeles's Venice neighborhood. (See Los Angeles, California, City Directory, 1916, p. 737.)In 1917, the Eldredges had an address of 805 2nd Avenue in the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles. In 1920, Eldredge and his family resided on South Beaudry Avenue in Los Angeles. Parents

His father was William Eldredge, and his mother, Mary Ellen Withington (born 1841 in NJ). He had a sister, Winifred Comstock Eldredge Hunt (born c. 1873 in NJ). She resided in Hemet, CA, in 1910, along with Mary.
