Born in Prinzenweg, Danzig, Germany, Grube came to Portland, OR, by 1960, at least. He worked initially for the firm of Skidmore Owings and Merrill from about 1960 until 1964. Grube and his wife, Elizabeth, resided at 1643 SE Holly Street in 1960. (See Portland City Directory, 1960, p. 415.) He became a partner of Richard A. Campbell (1930-1985) and WIlliam Roger Yost in 1964, and has spent his career working in and around Portland.

Grube received citizenship in the US District Court, Portland District, on 05/15/1979. In that year, he and his wife resided at 5304 SW Burton Drive in Portland.

He married Elizabeth Grube.

Biographical Notes

Grube befriended the woodcarver Leroy Setziol (d. 2005) beginning in 1965. The architect used Setziol carvings in selected works and he and his wife collected his relief sculptures.
