John White was the brother of Mark White, the engineer, and Annie White, wife of the architect Bernard Maybeck. Annie White worked as an office assistant in the Maybeck- Mark White Office in the early years. John White worked in the office, as well, in 1907-1908, focusing on reconstruction projects following the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 04/18/1906.
