Alfred Simonson was born in Los Angeles, CA, but moved to Seattle early in his life. (See, Source Citation, Birthdate: 8 May 1917; Birth County: Los Angeles,accessed 02/02/2016.) In 1919, the family resided in "Sherman, CA," according to naturalization papers, presumably the Los Angeles neighborhood of Sherman Oaks. According to the US Census of 1920, at two years of age, Simonson lived with his parents in a rented apartment at 3615 Woodland Park Avenue in Seattle. His father, Fenwick William Simonson (born 08/06/1867 in Knoxford, NB, Canada-died 04/19/1948 in Seattle), entered the US on 06/20/1896 at Blaine, ME, and completed US naturalization paperwork in 1919 in Los Angeles. He worked as a Motorman both in Los Angeles and for the City of Seattle in 1920. His mother, Mary Walsh Simonson (born c. 1878 in MA), worked in the home.
