A pivotal moment in his architectural development occurred in 1969, when Holl attended the UW's Rome Center Program, founded by Professor Astra Zarina (1929-2008) and UW Department of Architecture Chair Thomas Bosworth; Holl emphasized the importance of classes he took in architectural history at UW taught by the German immigrant, Professor Hermann Johannes Gustav Pundt (1928-2000). He roomed with another significant architect, Ed Weinstein, of the Seattle-based architectural firm, Weinstein AU. at the UW. Coursework, Architectural Association (AA), London, UK.
