His father was Johan Petrus (anglicized to "John Peter") Andersson (born 08/18/1886 in Sävar, Västerbotten, Sweden-d. 04/1974 in Seattle, WA), his mother, Elin Amanda Anderson (born 02/11/1883 in Bygdeå, Västerbotten, Sweden-d. 01/09/1960 in Edmonds, WA). Johan's hometown, Sävar, was located about 15 miles southwest of that of Elin, Bygdeå, in northeast Sweden. They may have met in Sweden or the United States. Johan arrived in the US in 1906, while Elin made it to the US a year later. (She left from Göteborg for the US on 04/03/1907.
